Sunil Mittal , the Chairman of India's largest telecom company , Airtel , has recently given an interview to the Economic Times. He stated that keeping in mind the exorbitant spectrum licensing fees, the network operators would not be able to absorb the entire cost of giving out 3G services and customers would have to pay a premium for it.
Ballpark figures of about 700-900 rupees per month were stated as being the possible price points for entry level 3G services in India. The 3G Spectrum auction in India crossed over Rs. 14000 crore and private operators plan to pass on this cost to the consumers.
