Review : Beta Brainwavz M2

Sometime back I had reviewed a entry level IEM called Beta Brainwavz Pro from Mp4 nation's in-house brand Brainwavz.Recently MP4 came up with a new mid-segment IEM called the Brainwavz M2 .Unlike the Betas the M2 are targeted more towards the mid-segment buyers ,with a price tag of ~69$. I was fortunate enough to get a chance to review the M2s before the launch and I was really surprised with the sound these IEMs could produce out of the box without much burn-in.

SE Xperia X10 Now Available In India

SE Xperia which was codenamed as the Shakira , is now available in India. The Android powered smartphone is priced at Rs. 13,900 in India. The Xperia X8 looks like the X10 mini but it has a larger 3″ capacitive scratch resistant touchscreen. The smartphone runs Android 1.6 on a 600Mhz processor. The battery is 1200mAh. The phone comes with integrated Timescape and allows has 128MB of RAM. The memory card slot supports memory cards upto 16GB in size.

T Mobile G2 Facing Hardware Problems

T-Mobile G2 , the latest Android based smartphone on the T-Mobile network is reportedly affected with severe hardware issues. The successor to the highly popular G1 supposedly has a loose hinge problem which causes the slider to dislocate when held at a particular angle. The problem is particularly noticeable when the device is held upside down which causes the screen to hang down. The problem can evidently be fixed by tightening the springs.

Idea 3G To Hit Gujarat By March 2011

Idea Cellular  , the pan-India mobile operator, just announced its 3G launch plans. Out of the 11 circles for which they have won licenses , the Gujarat circle will get 3G services by March 2011. With over 6 million subscribers in the state , IDEA plans to increase its subscriber multi-fold with the help of aggressive marketing and the upcoming MNP facility.



Idea cellular became a pan-India operator about an year ago and has since then grown to become the third largest telecom operator in the country.


Vodafone's 3G Page Goes Live

Lagging behind Bharti Airtel , Reliance Comm and IDEA Cellular , Vodafone has finally launched its own 3G services page. The page details standard marketing information including how the Vodafone network is superior to others. The peak 3G speed has been said to be about 21.1 Mbps but it remains to be seen whether Vodafone can keep up with that once the usage starts building up.

Vodafone Essar said that “The 3G Tariffs will be communicated at the time of commercial launch which is expected in the first quarter of 2011; we can assure our users that our tariffs will be competitive.”

Vodafone plans to offer value added services like video Calling , Live TV , Online Gaming etc with its proposed 3G services. Vodafone Essar has 3G spectrum in 10 circles – Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (E) and West Bengal.

Lemon Mobiles Launch Low Cost 3G Phone In India

Lemon Mobiles, the makers of ultra low cost devices , have launched in India an ultra cheap 3G handset in India called the W100. It comes with a price of Rs. 3500. It comes with two camera to allow for video calling. The SIM supports both GSM and WCDMA cards. The Lemon W100 also comes with a music player , video player and connectivity including bluetooth. There is also a memory card slot for expanding the inbuilt memory.

Aircel Bringing 3G Service in Jan 2011

Indian Telecom Operator Aircel has told reporters that it plans to launch 3G services in India by January 2011. It has won the 3G license for operating in 13 circles across the country.


Operators like Tata Docomo have already launched services while Airtel , Vodafone plan to launch it before year end. The operator had recently launched a 3G experience zone in Chennai.

Versace Bringing Rs. 4.5 Lakh Phone To India

Ultra luxury brand Versace is planning to bring its first cellphone to India. The Versace Unique Ceramic phone has been priced at a staggering Rs. 4.5 lakhs. The phone has a pure ceramic frame with the option of 18k gold or 316L stainless steel frame. The rear end of the device is made of crocodile leather. A sapphire crystal touchscreen ensures that it remains scratch free. The 3G enabled phone has a 5MP camera. The phone circuitry is provided by LG.

Nokia Announces X6 8GB in India for Rs. 14,499

Nokia has launched a new variant of the popular Nokia X6 device. The new variant comes with 8GB of storage and has been priced at Rs. 14,499. The device has a 3.2 inch capacitive touch screen with an aspect ratio of 16:9. It packs in a 5MP camera with dual LED flash and supports TV out and online share options. The X6 8GB runs on Symbian OS S60 5.0 and has Bluetooth, USB, WLAN connectivity features.

3G Services in India to be expensive at start

Sunil Mittal , the Chairman of India's largest telecom company , Airtel , has recently given an interview to the Economic Times. He stated that keeping in mind the exorbitant spectrum licensing fees, the network operators would not be able to absorb the entire cost of giving out 3G services and customers would have to pay a premium for it.
