Nokia Installs Server In India : RIM Under Pressure

10:30 AM | , , , , , , , , ,

Nokia is once again targeting the growing popularity of the Research In Motion developed Blackberry devices. RIM has recently been ordered by the Indian government to allow them access to the encrypted message channels. RIM has been in continuous denial of their ability to do so citing technological challenges. Presently all email sent via a Blackberry phone goes via the company's servers in Canada. The Indian Government wants the passkey which would allow them to view any email sent via Blackberry.

To combat such a situation , Nokia has set up a new server in India to set aside any concern by the Indian government regarding its Push email based Nokia Messaging Service.  Nokia India Vice President and MD D Shivakumar called on Home Secretary G K Pillai on Thursday and handed over the letter, saying the company has conformed with all requirements suggested by the law enforcement agencies.
