Arch Rival to Intel , AMD has pledged its 'upstream' support for MeeGo. What this means that they will be investing capital in return for the development efforts being made by Intel and Nokia. AMD's engineering resources will also work on forthcoming APUs to ensure proper support for the fledgling OS.
"We are glad to provide engineering resources to joint industry efforts like MeeGo and expect that this operating system will help drive our embedded plans and create expanded market opportunities for our forthcoming Accelerated Processing Units."The announcement made at the MeeGo Conference in Dublin is significant as it means that it will support its rival Intel in the development of the Open Source operating system in collaboration with Nokia. AMD states that MeeGo will play an important role in its Fusion line of processors which will bring the CPU and GPU under one chipset.
